Profession of Faith

We are advocates of the absolute right to the freedom of religion and one resource among many for disciples who seek ever more intimate communion with Christ and within the household of faith, and who seek to engage the world in loving witness as ambassadors of God's Kingdom.

Greater Providence Providence students is a "ministry of reconciliation"

(2 Cor. 5:18). Our primary purpose is to proclaim the "Gospel", the "Good News", of the "true grace of God.", which is the salvation and reconciliation of mankind to God through the Lord Jesus Christ, "who gave Himself a ransom for all" (1 Tim. 2:6). Our mission also includes helping others to "grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Pet. 3:18), so that they may take an active part in the "ministry of reconciliation.

We are Evangelical Christian Universalists. We are Trans-denominational, Inclusive, and Interfaith in our outreach. These terms are explained in the paragraphs further down on this page.

We stand for a Christ-centered, morally sound, Biblical Christianity: the faith and practice of the Apostles and the Early Disciples of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

"In essentials, Unity; in non-essentials, Liberty; in all things, Love."

We believe in the Universal Fatherhood of God, the spiritual authority and leadership of His Son Jesus Christ, the trustworthiness of the Bible as containing a revelation from God, the certainty of just retribution for sin, and the final harmony of all souls with God.

We are Evangelical Christian Universalists
The Greek word euangelion is the root and parent of the English word, evangelical, and means gospel, or good news. To be an "Evangelical," in its true sense, is to be "one who proclaims the Good News."
The message of the "Evangel," or "Gospel," is very simple, consistent, and beautiful. It regards this world as God's, and the whole human family as His children. It accepts without distrust the fundamental fact of the of the Scriptures, that God, out of His great love to humans, alienated from Him by sin, sent His only begotten Son to seek and to save that which was lost, and by redeeming people from sin, to restore them to their right relations with God, and thus fit them to glorify and enjoy Him forever.

In a nutshell, in its simple and proper theological sense, the pure, unadulterated "Gospel," or "Good News," is the message of the final holiness and happiness of all humans, to be effected by the Grace of God, through the ministry of His Son, Jesus Christ. Or, in other words, it is the message of Universal Reconciliation and Universal Salvation to be accomplished by God, through, and because of, the death burial, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ, "Who gave Himself a ransom for all" (1 Tim. 2:6). This is the basis of the "Christian Universalist" faith. "Christian Universalists" are the most "Evangelical" of all believers, because they proclaim to the fullest extent the true "Good News."

"We trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe" (1 Tim. 4:10). He "will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim. 2:6). Jesus Christ is "is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world" (1 John 2:2). "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Php. 2:9-11).

It should be noted that the word "should" as used in the previous verses does not mean "ought to" but that it is the past tense of "shall." This is not forced confession, but freely given. "No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost" (1 Cor. 12:3).

"And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all" (1 Cor. 15:28). By that time, everyone, whether in this life or in that which is to come, "shall have" freely and willing confessed that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father, and then God will be "all in all," or "everything to everyone," as some versions have translated the original.

"God will seek us -- how long? Until he finds us. And when he's found the last little shriveling rebellious soul and has depopulated hell, then death will be swallowed up in victory, and Christ will turn over all things to the Father that he may be all and in all. Then every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Clarence Jordan - founder of Koinonia Community)

"Let us, who believe in ultimate reconciliation and present conciliation complement our belief by a most gracious and loving exercise of the grace we have received in our contact with the world and with His beloved saints!" (A. E. Knoch, Unsearchable Riches", volume 56, number 3)
